Get Headhunted on LinkedIn

Are you hoping to move jobs in 2015? Here are my 5 top tips to getting headhunted on Linkedin:

Set up your profile correctly. Is your profile up to date and factually correct (matching your CV); Think about:

  • Key words (all the possible key words a recruiter may use)
  • Education (if you went to university make sure it’s stated etc)
  • Location – set your location as the location you want to work in
  • Industry – what industry you want to appear under?
  • Profile Picture – is it appropriate?

Check your Communications Preferences. i.e. what you’d like to be contacted about and who can contact you.   To access : Click on the small profile picture – top right tool bar, from the drop-down, select ‘Communications’.

Build up good contacts in your industry – that way you’re more likely to be found by recruiters & employers. Connect with reputable recruiters in your industry.

Follow companies you are interested in working for and join relevant groups.

Respond Appropriately to approaches. If you get approached about a role that is not right for you – take a minute to check out who has sent it to you (check out the employer’s or recruiter’s profile and their company website). If they look like a business you’d be interested in or a professional recruitment business working in your industry sector, reply politely informing them why the role isn’t right for you and connect with them.
