Have a strong Interview Process

Interview processes are changing. Many employers are recognising that a fast paced, competitive job market requires a different interview process to a recessionary job market.

Here are Copeland’s 5 top tips for a robust, effective interview process in today’s job market:

Move fast – if you get a good CV do not delay in arranging an interview

Use Phone/Skype – to speed up the process and get a candidate engaged, consider using telephone or Skype for first stage interviews

Brief well on interview process – interview panel (names & titles), interview format (types of question) and any specific preparation or candidate tasks, anything you will specifically be looking for.

Sell the job – as well as questioning the candidate on their skills, be sure to invest time in selling the job, career opportunities and your business to them.

Test Skills & Competencies – give candidates tasks or exercises to test on required skills and competencies – don’t just take their work for it.
