Recruitment treats this Halloween!

At this spooky time of year as thoughts turn to all things that go bump in the night, here at Copeland we wanted to share a few ideas on how to avoid a recruitment horror show this October.


As in all great horror movies, time is very much of the essence. We are continuing to see the market looking healthy and good candidates moving faster than me in woods since watching The Blair Witch project.


Here at Copeland Select, we are far from recruitment Zombies and do our best to keep processes moving successfully. However, as hiring Managers here are a few things we advise:

  • Advising on interview schedules to the recruiter up front. This can enable us to give candidates realistic timescales and manage their expectations.
  • Review shortlists and book interviews as promptly as possible. We know this can be tricky when there are multiple interviewers involved, but keeping the momentum and enthusiasm going is key in a market where candidates often have multiple opportunities on the go.
  • Providing feedback, not necessarily a decision, as soon as possible after interview.
