This May Bank Holiday weekend six friends and I headed off to the National Scooter Rally in Weston-Super-Mare, the second event in a series throughout the year organised by the BSRA (British Scooter Rallies Association).
Leaving early on Saturday morning we rode south westwards – myself and 5 others on Lambrettas’ and 1 on a Vespa. All of the machines are ‘classic’ 2 strokes, 4 speed hand-gear change scooters in various stages of condition, aged between (1956-1982).
One of the highlights was riding through the Somerset countryside including the beautiful Cheddar Gorge. The evening entertainment was a meal at an Italian restaurant and then music and beers on the newly built Grand Pier – where (those of us that had some) let our hair down.
It was a brilliant weekend – even riding back home in the rain, and definitely something I would recommend. I am planning to be at the Isle of Wight International Scooter Rally (last year 15,000 attended) in August, maybe see you there?
