The toughest sport?

If you’re getting withdrawal symptoms now that the World Cup and Wimbledon are over and want some exciting sport to watch I recommend  the Tour de France.  It never ceases to amaze me how tough these cyclists are – racing for 4 or 5 hours a day for 3 weeks. Regularly crashing and getting back on their bikes bleeding and bruised.

On Sunday the riders tackled the cobbled roads of Northern France – at least 10 riders came off their bikes – including British star Chris Froome (4 times tour winner) and major contender – Richie Porte who was put out of the race with a fractured collarbone.

Compare this to Brazilian footballer Neymar who has spent 14 minutes of his brief World Cup campaign lying on the ground pretending to be injured!
