Job Description
A manufacturer of premium brand lubricants to the industrial and automotive industries is seeking an Area Sales Manager for the industrial sector. The position is field based covering Southern England. You’ll be responsible for prospecting for and winning new business as well as managing a portfolio of existing accounts. The role is approximately 60% new business development so would suit someone with a passion for, and track record in, winning new business.
This role would suit a highly driven sales person with experience in a field-based business development and account management role. Experience selling industrial lubricants would be ideal, however any experience selling products/equipment/consumables for use in manufacturing (shop floor) would be welcomed. You’ll also need to demonstrate excellent relationship building and customer service skills as well as a highly organised approach to planning and managing your territory and customer portfolio
Key Responsibilities
- Prospecting for and developing new business in your region
- Maintaining and developing sales volume and revenue from existing accounts
- Regular travel within your region to maximise face-to-face time with customers and prospects.
- Tracking and developing new business opportunities through Salesforce.
- Effective management of your time to increase market share.
- Help support future product growth by sharing knowledge and insights from your customers
- Support the UK and Europe sector specialists in strategic sector growth.
- Work with internal stakeholders to effectively grow and maintain products and services.
About You
- Experience in a field-based sales role selling into a manufacturing business.
- Experience selling industrial lubricants or other products/equipment/consumables for use in manufacturing (shop floor)
- A passion for, and a proven track record of, new business development – winning new accounts
- Ability to manage a long sales cycle with multiple stakeholders (both within the customer and internally)
- Strong technical and value-added sales ability with track record.
- Generate but also qualify leads effectively.
- Solid experience of Salesforce or other CRM system as pipeline management tool.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust internally with support functions and externally with our top customers.
- Forecasting awareness to ensure optimum stock levels of product are on premises and in pipeline.
- Experience in leading the coordination of tender submissions and contract reviews.
- Strong relationship building capability across internal and external stakeholders.
- Execute exemplary levels of customer service.
- Able to organize your time and manage your territory and customers effectively.
- Computer literate with good presentation skills.
- Be located in Southern England (Northampton southwards)
- Valid driving license and able to travel extensively across the Southern UK – with occasional nights away
